Our first Circle follows how artistic value is made: from the moment a ready-made was first declared art, to the museums and markets that decide what we see and remember today.
We begin our very first session in a warm, welcoming gathering, where we will meet these questions in person, not just in theory. Over three sessions, we look at the art world from three angles:
The Artistic Gesture: How artists push past the rules of what art can be, and what happens the moment a radical idea gets absorbed into the market.
The Museum & The Market: How museum purchases, private collections, and archival decisions shape what gets remembered, and what stays in the vaults.
The Curator's Eye: How the way art is displayed shapes what it means, guiding what we notice and what we miss.
Across three encounters, we test these ideas against real examples: exploring landmark artworks, stepping into museum archives, and engaging in direct conversation with the curators shaping Barcelona's art scene today.
The Politics of Taste is an invitation to step behind the scenes and discover how taste and value are really made. The circle unfolds across three sessions over three months, two to three hours each, held in person.
